FAQs
What is heart and soul care?
Simply put, we care deeply for the very essence of who you are as a human. Life can be hard, and brokenness is often part of the life experience. Angela is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who views individuals as more than just people; she sees them as a harmonious blend of body, mind, and spirit. As a skilled dietitian, she understands the significance of holistic health. At Lemond Therapy, we embrace a comprehensive approach to care by applying evidence-based behavioral techniques to realign what may be out of sync.
Our goal in mental health therapy is to sustain the well-being of those who are already healthy. We offer body scanning, meditations, or prayer based on client preferences to prepare the mind for fruitful therapeutic sessions. Whatever Angela sees you need, it would all be included as part of the time spent together. She also knows that doing mindful body work can feel overwhelming due to past traumas. This is a safe space; we will always check in with what feels comfortable.
Angela utilizes an eclectic mix of treatment modalities. She is inspired by Paul Gilbert's Compassion-Focused Therapy, which emphasizes mindfulness to invite unconditional self-care and kindness. With her extensive past experience in creating nutrition plans, she also enjoys employing solution-focused modalities such as Steven C. Hayes’ Acceptance and Commitment Therapy when suitable.
For couples counseling, Angela utilizes both Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method when appropriate. Angela is certified as SYMBIS facilitator geared more to engaged couples, but can be done with married couples as well.
Does my therapist pray in sessions?
Yes or no. You decide! In your intake paperwork, you will select how you would like to integrate your faith into your therapy sessions. Some may want to stick to very general references about God and His purpose for them with no incorporation of prayer while others want to start / end in prayer along with a weave throughout. Either way, your therapist here at Lemond Therapy spends time praying for all current clients and asking the Lord to guide all our client discussions in a Spirit-led way that will offer complete healing.
Can you help with church hurt or religious trauma?
Yes, we can. We see people that have felt manipulated, coerced or even abused in a church setting. If you want to heal using faith-based therapy, we are here to fully help you process the emotional pain. Churches and faith-based settings should feel like a refuge; a safe place to go when the world feels dangerous. Our approach to help people with this is helping people feel the emotional pain. We guide clients of faith on avoiding the practice of spiritual bypassing, which is can cause the trauma to go unhealed.
